Professional Experience
Mr. Kominsky is an attorney in the Commercial Litigation, General Liability and Maritime Law practices of Conrad & Scherer. His Commercial Litigation practice encompasses matters on behalf of corporations as well as individuals and covers all business conflicts, including breaches of contract, disputes over non-compete clauses, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and civil theft. His Maritime Law practice area focuses on the South Florida yachting industry and features personal injuries at sea involving crewmembers or passengers, collisions, contracts for the sale of vessel, documentation and maritime arbitration. His General Liability practice emphasizes defense of businesses, property owners and individuals in various types of torts and negligence actions.
Mr. Kominsky was previously at Wicker, Smith, McCoy, O’Hara & Ford, P.A., where he gained experience in general litigation, including negligence, medical malpractice and contract disputes. During his tenure, Mr. Kominsky represented clients throughout the entire state of Florida. Mr. Kominsky gained legal experience prior to his entry into private practice by working for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. and The Civil Rights Section in the Office of the Ohio Attorney General.
From 2002-2005, Mr. Kominsky interned with the Minnesota Vikings, reporting directly to former owner, Red McCombs. Additionally, he was the Founder & Chair of Inaugural “Sports Law Symposium” at The Ohio State University.
Community Involvement
Mr. Kominsky founded Students Take On Paralysis (STOP) in 1999, an organization which promotes awareness of spinal cord injuries and helps educate students in prevention methods. Based on his work with STOP and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Mr. Kominsky created and taught a course on disability issues at the University of Michigan’s School of Nursing. The course, entitled “Disability Issues: Focus on Spinal Cord Injury” focused on the legal rights of individuals with disabilities. In addition, Mr. Kominsky hosted Wheelchair Basketball and Murderball (Wheelchair Rugby) charity events. For his efforts with STOP, Mr. Kominsky was a recipient of the Miami Herald Silver Knight Award.
Mr. Kominsky currently serves as a Founding Board Member of the Silver Knight Award Alumni Legacy Network. Additionally, he is an active member of the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. Mr. Kominsky has helped sponsor the University of Miami Law School’s Entertainment & Sports Law Society Symposium and supports the Outreach Committee on the Sports Lawyers Association, a national organization for sports attorneys.
Honors & Education
Mr. Kominsky has a B.A. From the University of Michigan and Juris Doctorate from Mortiz College of Law at the Ohio State University. He served as the Executive Editor for the Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal and published a note entitled “Access Granted: Proxies and the SEC.” 2 Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal 573 (2007).
Mr. Kominsky was recommended by Jerry McMorris, Former Chairman of the Board of the Colorado Rockies to the American Academy of Achievement Salute to Excellence Program. Most recently, he has been a guest lecturer at numerous high schools in Broward County as well as colleges, including Michigan State University and the University of Michigan.
